Our Values
OUR SCHOOL AIMS
We have high expectations of all children and adults in New Road School, both academically and socially, as reflected in our school rights:
We have the right to learn.
We have the right to feel safe.
We have the right to be respected.
We view the education of your child as a partnership between the family and the school. During the time your child is with us, we will work with you to create a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which your child can develop their full potential.
We aim to help your child develop intellectually, socially, morally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, by providing them with a full range of experiences based on a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and using a range of teaching strategies adapted to meet the needs of all learners.
We aim to develop children’s self esteem, confidence and life skills. The achievements and efforts of your child, both academic and non– academic, will be celebrated by us at every opportunity. We hope that all our pupils will leave New Road Primary school happy, confident and having experienced success.
We aim to celebrate the cultural identity of all pupils, and embrace the cultural diversity of our school. We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and secure here, discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. We believe that children, staff and parents should be polite, respectful and tolerant of all other members of our school community.
Our School Ethos
We are here to serve the needs of our children and we believe children should always feel safe and happy at New Road Primary School. Happy children, who enjoy coming to school are always ready to learn.
In our school we believe that all children have a Growth Mindset. This means our children believe they can succeed and with effort and practice, they will succeed no matter what their starting point. Our school motto is “Yes I can!” and children are rewarded for perseverance, achievement and attainment in Maths and English each week.
Our Behaviour Policy is based on four values Respect, Honesty, Consideration and Responsibility and these four values underpin our school ethos. Everyone in our school plays an important role. We respect each other and we respect our pupils. We expect the same attitude to exist within our children and parents.
We believe in experiential learning and our Teaching and Learning is based on giving children first hand experiences alongside the development of skills in reading, writing and maths. That is why we use The International Primary Curriculum which includes Theme Days and presentations of learning. The children are given opportunities to immerse themselves in topics developing the necessary vocabulary to access their learning.
We firmly believe that a primary school should provide what we call a fully rounded education, where children have the opportunity to experience as wide a range of activities as possible. The school provides a variety of clubs, residential activities and trips out to our local community to enhance the children’s experiences and learning.
We believe our children deserve the best possible education and school life and our Governors support the school in raising attainment and providing learning opportunities that will prepare the children for their futures in secondary school and later life.
