Forest School

Forest School is an inspirational approach to outdoor learning that encourages children to explore and experience the natural world in a safe, supported way. Through practical activities like den building, tool use, fire lighting and nature exploration, children develop confidence, independence, resilience and a deeper connection to the environment.
Each class have a Forest School session every week, led by our qualified Forest School practitioner – Mr Roome. The sessions take place in our designated Forest School area behind the main playground. Children must be dressed in appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear to participate fully.
Below is a list of what your child should wear during their forest school session. It is important they have sufficient clothes to participate fully. Each class will be going out whatever the weather. There is no such thing as bad weather in England but inappropriate clothing.
What to wear for Forest School…
The nature of Forest School activities means that clothes are likely to get muddy and possibly get holes in them.
Children's clothes should be in a suitable bag and all items should be named.
COLD WEATHER

Wellington Boots
We recommend a vest, a long-sleeved T-shirt and a jumper/sweatshirt, tights, trousers, or leggings
WARM WEATHER
Sun hat
Sturdy shoes
We recommend trousers or leggings to protect against insect bites, sunburn, and grazes.
Shorts are not acceptable
WET WEATHER
Waterproof coat
Wellington boots
Waterproof gloves
